Recruiting at DSW21

Status: 30.01.25

Regardless of whether colleagues are taking their well-deserved retirement or new jobs are created in the company because we are improving our transport services and therefore need more people to plan, build or drive - there are always jobs at DSW21 that urgently need to be filled. Only then can we run smoothly and fulfil our mission of making Dortmund mobile.

Who actually takes care of filling the vacant jobs?

That's what our six-person recruiting team does. They have a lot to do before new colleagues can start work. After all, last year we were looking for people who wanted to help out at DSW21 for over 70 different jobs. And in all areas, really. From drivers for buses and light rail, to lawyers, mechatronics engineers, content creators for social media and people who are familiar with diversity issues to help us become an even more colourful company. Over 3800 applications were received by the recruiting team in 2024.

Of course, every application was looked at, checked and assessed to see if the profile matched the job. Given the volume of documents, this no longer works the way it used to - with a mountain of paper and application folders. To keep things organised and maintain an overview, our colleagues work with a digital tool that stores applications, contact details, interview notes and other information. Anyone who clicks on one of our online job adverts and wants to apply for a job with us ends up directly in our system, where they can create a profile and then upload their application documents. Pretty simple. And an incredible reduction in workload. Which also benefits the applicants.

This allows us to react much more quickly and make contact. For example, to invite people to meet us in person. That's the best part of recruiting. Meeting lots of people. Clarifying open questions about their professional career, talking about their experiences and finding out whether they are a good match. Last year, our recruiters conducted around 700 such interviews to find the right people for our jobs. Sure - sometimes it doesn't quite fit. That's pretty daft for both sides. But maybe another of our jobs is simply more suitable? Of course, you are also welcome to apply to us a second time.

Take a look at the jobs they are currently looking after - maybe there's the right one for you!
