Barrier-free stops

Find out about the timetable, stops and roadworks before your journey. In both the printed and the interactive DSW21 route network map, you will find all stops in Dortmund where it is possible to get on and off the bus with virtually no steps. You can also download a list of barrier-free bus stops in Dortmund.

Customers with limited mobility

DSW21 offers various services for passengers with reduced mobility to make travelling by bus and train easier for everyone. Low-floor buses and trains with almost level access, modern lifts, tactile guidance systems, information pillars and up-to-date information systems at the stops benefit all customers. We also offer counselling and training opportunities for your personal support.

We for you

Quick solutions for passengers with limited mobility are not always possible. However, we work every day to improve our services for all passengers.

We are in constant consultation with those affected and the City of Dortmund's disability policy network.

Easy language - very simple!

Arrive safely and securely

The city of Dortmund has a disability policy network. Representatives of people with disabilities, the council parties and the integration and senior citizens' advisory councils work there to promote the interests of people with disabilities. From this network came the wish to offer passenger information in plain language. DSW21 gladly accepted this suggestion and sought help for this task. Employees from the Über den Teichen workshop, residents from Bethel regional's Am Lohbach home and the Caritas St. Raphael residential home have compiled this information. If you have any further questions on the subject of plain language, please click here.

The brochures resulting from the collaboration can be found here:

To the disabled person's pass

For severely disabled persons, the use of public transport is free under certain conditions. A corresponding application must be submitted to the local pension office. A severely disabled person's pass and a supplementary sheet with a token are required for the travel authorisation. The price of this token is stipulated by law and authorisation is determined by the pension office.

You can find further information on the law on severely disabled persons at www.dortmund.de and at www.oepnv-info.de.

Transport service for people with disabilities

If you are unable to travel by bus or train due to a disability, you can use the transport service for people with disabilities. The Social Welfare Office of the City of Dortmund decides on admission to the transport service and the free travel quota. Please send an informal application to the office or by e-mail to behindertenfahrdienst@stadtdo.de. The "Fahrdienst Georg" has been commissioned to organise these trips.

Further information can be found here.

Rollator training

If required, we can organise individual training sessions on the topic of rollators on buses and trains for groups of at least 6 people. Please contact Mr Ralf Becker, 0231/ 955-3323 or r.becker@dsw21.de.

Two fixed dates take place every year in cooperation with the St Paulus Catholic Society and the Tingelhoff medical supply store, where passengers with rollators can also take part without prior registration.

In addition to tips and tricks for more safety when getting on and off the bus, there is also a wheelchair rally.

Transport of e-scooters

Please note the information and requirements for travelling with e-scooters. These can be found in our information brochure.

If required, DSW21 offers authorised e-scooter users the opportunity to learn practical exercises and tips for using e-scooters on our buses in training sessions. For further information, please contact Mr Ralf Becker,
Tel. 0231/ 955-3323 or r.becker@dsw21.de

Please note in advance that light rail vehicles do not currently fulfil the requirements for transporting e-scooters and transport is therefore not possible.

Customised timetable printout

As we generally do not have the possibility to provide our timetables, e.g. in large font on DIN A3 or otherwise, preferably barrier-free, we offer you the possibility to create a customised timetable printout on request.

The contact person for your individual timetable printout is Mr Ralf Becker. E-mail: r.becker@dsw21.de or phone: 0231/ 955-3323.
