Dortmund is haunted
Status: 01.10.24
There was once a house in Syburg, surrounded by meadows and woodland. A group of nuns who worshipped the devil met in this house, and a priest who murdered his own family once lived there. And some people claim to have seen a headless horseman roaming the woods at night.
At midnight, the walls appeared red as blood flowed down them. If you dared to enter the upper floor of the house, you would find an old wardrobe with a bloody wedding dress hanging in it.
It is not surprising that the numerous ghost stories and legends attracted groups of people and the house became a favourite meeting place for fans of the supernatural. Especially at Halloween, spooky fans wanted to visit the house. Some people probably hoped to be able to communicate with the spirits of Syburg Castle during a séance.
The fact that the old building had long been left to decay added to the creepy factor. The house had stood empty since 1979 and was largely left to its own devices. Although it even received a new electricity connection in 1991, it remained empty. In 2009, the building was finally demolished as it was so dilapidated that it was feared it might collapse.
