Are technical professions only a "man's job"?
Will I be taken seriously as a young woman in technical fields?
Can I find my way in an environment that is mostly dominated by men?
You are thinking about starting a technical vocational training programme, but have reservations due to clichés and prejudices: You're not alone!
Many young women have similar concerns.
Let's debunk these prejudices:
"Technical professions are only for men"
That's absolutely not true! At DSW21, we believe in diversity and equal opportunities. Women can bring a breath of fresh air and innovative ideas to technical professions. We are very pleased that more and more women are enriching our technical teams and achieving great things.
Melissa, a second-year apprentice, was hesitant to apply for a job as an IT systems electronics technician.
Today, she is very satisfied and believes that her "worries did not materialise in any way". Quite the opposite: "Fortunately, I had the courage to start the apprenticeship back then"

"Women are not taken seriously in technical professions"
At DSW21, we believe in the strengths and potential of every single female employee. Our corporate culture promotes respect and cooperation. We are actively committed to ensuring that all voices are heard and that every woman has the opportunity to showcase and develop her skills.
Bo Dana is training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering and says that she "can regularly contribute herself and share suggestions for improvement".
It is important to us that we continuously adapt and improve training for young women.
Can I find my way in an environment that is mostly dominated by men?
You will always receive support from us. With the help of workshops and training courses, you will be taught the knowledge and skills you need for your apprenticeship. Even if you don't have much experience or technical understanding, you will have no problem finding your way in your desired apprenticeship. And if you do need to talk, you can always turn to our female trainers.
Your future, your opportunity
Wondering whether a technical career is right for you? Why not do an internship with us and find out! Here you can experience for yourself what a technical profession means and try out whether you enjoy working with tools, machines and technology. Maybe you'll realise that this is exactly where your future lies!
Moving more together
Our goal is clear: we want to see more women in technical professions - and we are doing everything we can to achieve this. Diversity makes us strong, and we look forward to welcoming every woman who wants to shape the future with us.

Would you like to become part of our team? Then apply now for one of our technical apprenticeships and discover how much power you have! We look forward to meeting you.
