For clamping block enthusiasts

Who's sneaking up on us? With its electric drive, the StromFahrer is much quieter on our roads than its diesel cousins. And its next stop is your living room!

Electric drivers:
Together for a clean city

DSW21 launches electric mobility with its bus fleet

Since this year's timetable change, DSW21's new electric buses have been in operation on bus routes 470, 440 and 437, covering a total of more than 300 kilometres a day.

Important building block for climate protection targets

On the way to an emission-free bus fleet

DSW21's bus fleet is already one of the most modern and lowest-emission in the country and is now gradually reaching a whole new level in terms of climate friendliness.

When DSW21 runs all 30 of its existing electric vehicles, around a fifth of the entire fleet will be emission-free. Fuel consumption will be reduced by around 900,000 litres per year.

Emission-free
transport

With our electric buses, you can enjoy the feeling of actively contributing to environmental protection. Thanks to emission-free drive technology, our electric buses leave no harmful exhaust fumes on the roads. That means clean air to breathe and a sustainable future for us all.

High minimum range and fast-charging batteries

The electric buses have a minimum range of 200 kilometres and have fast-charging batteries. This means that no recharging is necessary on the route.

Another advantage: the vehicles can be used flexibly in the future - for example at major events.

Significantly lower
noise level

Our electric buses are characterised by a very low noise level, allowing you to travel in peace and quiet.

In the new buses, you will experience a quiet journey through the city.

Elaborate charging infrastructure

DONETZ installs eight-megawatt power connection

The charging infrastructure was installed at great expense: DONETZ specially laid an eight-megawatt power connection to supply the depot in Brünninghausen with certified green electricity. The associated 150-tonne transformer station was sunk into the ground with the help of a heavy-duty crane and, together with three other, somewhat smaller transformer stations and a transfer station, forms the backbone of the charging infrastructure.

The StromFahrer - Episode 1: The drivers - DSW21 Podcast #64

In our four-part feature "Die StromFahrer" (The Electric Drivers), we take a detailed look at Dortmund's entry into electric buses. The project affects all areas of the public transport company - from the driving service to the workshops.
