Rainproof excursion destinations

Status: 13.03.24

The sky is grey and cloudy, it's wet and uncomfortable outside. The weather invites you to spend the days cosily on the sofa, doesn't it? Binge-watching can also be nice, but at some point our legs start to tingle and we want to get out.

That's why we have a few recommendations for you to discover, experience and learn something new even when it's raining. And all with dry feet.

Climbing church Mönchengladbach

The climbing church in Mönchengladbach is not only the first of its kind in Germany, but also the only one. The last church service was held here in 2007. Today, you can climb and test your courage in the 1300 m² indoor area. The offer is complemented by a bouldering area and the outdoor area.

Alma Park Gelsenkirchen

Alma Park in Gelsenkirchen offers you 15,000 m² of rainproof fun. The former colliery site is now home to escape rooms, laser tag, paintball, minigolf, a trampoline park and numerous other attractions. And it's all under cover, so you don't have to worry about the weather.

Football Museum Dortmund

For football fans, our next recommendation is certainly no surprise: the Football Museum in Dortmund. Here you can experience football history up close. Trophies, jerseys and even the original ball from the "Miracle of Bern" can be found here. One highlight is the dark treasure chamber, in which the original trophies are brightly illuminated.

Planetarium Bochum

In the planetarium, you can observe the stars and look at the sky at any time and any place. The projector projects over 9,000 stars onto the large dome. The whole experience is complemented by music shows, audio books and numerous events to delight all ages. Take the plunge and set off for galaxies far, far away.

Kluterthöhle Ennepetal

Fancy an adventure? In Ennepetal you will find an old coral reef with 380 corridors. Here you can marvel at structures made of fossilised corals, shells and sponges. If you're brave enough, you can book a guided tour to crawl through the narrow tunnels and discover the secrets of the dark tunnels. There are also numerous guided tours and treasure hunts for those who prefer not to crawl through narrow passages.

Visiodrom Wuppertal

At the Visiodrom, you can immerse yourself in a world of light. In the former gas boiler, elaborate light and sound installations ensure that art comes to life. The 360° screen ensures that you are in the centre of the exhibition and not just standing in front of it. You also have the opportunity to look out over the city from the 65 metre high Skywalk and enjoy the view.
