When school starts on Wednesday (27 August), DSW21 will once again be running numerous additional buses to secondary schools in the morning and at lunchtime. Drivers should pay particular attention near the school bus stops marked with a red triangle.
From Wednesday, the school buses (E-cars) will roll out of the depot as usual. In Dortmund alone, around 50 additional buses will be travelling to numerous secondary schools as e-buses, making around 100 journeys in the morning and at lunchtime. The routes to the school centres in the Hörde area, in Asseln, Brünninghausen, Renninghausen (Hombruchsfeld), Aplerbeck, Nette, Kirchlinde (Auf dem Bockenfelde) and to the Rudolf Steiner School in Brünninghausen will be particularly reinforced.
Changes possible
As always, DSW21 will closely monitor the school transport situation and respond to changes in demand and feedback from schools wherever possible. For this reason, changes may be made at short notice in the first few weeks of the new school year. We therefore recommend that you use the electronic timetable information, which is always up to date, for connection information.
Timetables and timetable information
It goes without saying that the electric coaches and timetable extensions can be used not only by schoolchildren, but by all passengers. Some of the departure times cannot be found on the timetable displays at the stops, but can be found in the timetable information on the Internet(www.bus-und-bahn.de) or in the DSW21 and VRR app.
Red triangle and hazard warning lights
According to road traffic regulations, buses that are parked at bus stops with their hazard warning lights switched on may only be passed at walking speed. At over 40 bus stops opposite schools, which are marked with a red triangle, this is done on school days between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. in order to increase safety for pupils.
As soon as the bus switches on its hazard warning lights as it approaches the bus stop, it may no longer be overtaken by cars. When the bus is stationary, cars may only drive past the bus stop at walking speed. This also applies to oncoming vehicles, unless the lanes are clearly separated by grass verges or similar barriers.
