Volunteering is the glue that holds our society together. And clubs are the places where this happens. That's why the #dortMUT project has been running for five years and is now entering its sixth round. In 2025, the municipal company group 21 - Daseinsvorsorge für Dortmund - will once again be awarding 84,000 euros to projects that are working to make Dortmund even better in the future.
Associations and non-profit organisations are invited to take part in #dortMUT. Applications with a brief project outline can be submitted from 1 June 2025 to 31 August 2025 via the website www.dortmut.de. It's not just about the "banger idea". The often arduous everyday life of the associations should and can also be made easier through #dortMUT: new costumes for the theatre group, a projector for the film club, a competition trip for children or young people, a cargo bike grant for an allotment garden association.
In all four categories, the key themes of sustainability and togetherness are at the centre of the decision criteria. Everyone is challenged here. There are usually enough ideas. What is often missing are the means to realise them.
You can submit your project to #dortMUT in the categories "Social", "Sport", "Culture" and "Sustainability/Diversity". The prominent juries in the four categories scrutinise each proposal very carefully. If you have any questions about what your idea could fit into or other unclear points in connection with the submission, simply send an email to v.schlotz@dsw21.de.
#dortMUT - three strong arguments in favour of the project competition:
- 420,000 € has flowed into the urban community so far. In projects ranging from boxing training for Ukrainian children to a barbershop choir.
- Well over 100 organisations have received money from the #dortMUT pot.
- More than 25,000 Dortmund residents have benefited directly or indirectly from the projects.

#dortMUT is the project with the lion as a symbol and the lion house in Dortmund ZOO as a "landmark". Why? Because lions have a chain of care - from the strong to the weak. And because what counts is the courage symbolised by the king of the animals.
