First security tour at Dortmund Central Station

DSW21, the Federal Police, Deutsche Bahn and the station mission will provide exclusive insights into their joint security work on 28 August - registration is now open.

Together with the Federal Police, Deutsche Bahn and the station mission, DSW21 is organising the first security tour of Dortmund Central Station. The three-hour event will take place on 28 August 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will clearly demonstrate how the joint security work of the various players in public transport works. Participants will gain in-depth insights into the processes behind the scenes and receive a detailed explanation of the safety measures that are visible and less visible to passengers. This first-time offer is rounded off with numerous practical examples, prevention tips and behavioural advice.

"Our passengers can rely on a sophisticated system that ensures safety on Dortmund's local transport network. DSW21 is responsible for the light rail station and Königswallpassage at the main railway station. We therefore operate in close proximity to other players there - and we want to emphasise this joint cooperation," says Leon Herf, Head of Security in DSW21's transport division, and continues: "We have been working together as a well-established team for many years, particularly in this area - and we have also developed the security management system together. In this way, we want to ensure even more transparency and understanding. And perhaps we can also clear up some minor misconceptions here and there."

Registration now open

Anyone interested can register on the following website from now until 22 August: Security tours - Kompetenzcenter Sicherheit NRW
The number of participants is limited to 15 people.

The event is organised by the NRW Safety Competence Centre, which is based at the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Authority (VRR) and has already offered such tours in other cities such as Essen, Bochum and Gelsenkirchen, which have met with a positive response. Following the launch in Dortmund, it is planned to repeat the security tour at regular intervals. The aim is to create more transparency in the long term and further strengthen passengers' sense of security.
