Borussia Dortmund is taking a further step towards sustainability: from 1 October, the long-established club will be offering its approximately 1,000 employees the "DeutschlandTicket Job". The co-operation partner is the transport company DSW21 - Dortmunder Stadtwerke AG. This will further expand and strengthen the proven cooperation between BVB, DSW21 and its subsidiary DEW21 on issues relating to the mobility, energy and heating transition.
The "DeutschlandTicket Job" offer is currently experiencing a real boom in Dortmund: less than 18 months after its introduction, DSW21 already has contracts with around 300 local companies in which a total of 18,000 employees use the discounted local transport ticket. Their own contribution, depending on the amount of the employer subsidy, is a maximum of €34.30. These include major customers such as the City of Dortmund, Dortmund Hospital, St. Johannes Hospital and Sparkasse Dortmund, each with more than 1,000 users, as well as REWE, EDG Entsorgung Dortmund, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and more than 170 other companies with a purchase volume of 1 to 10 Job Tickets - such as doctors' surgeries and craft businesses.
The "DeutschlandTicket", which was introduced in spring 2023, costs €49. For this price, subscribers can use regional and local transport anywhere in Germany for a month, even travelling 2nd class from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Flensburg. The Job Ticket makes it even cheaper because the employer pays (at least) 25 per cent of the costs and, in the case of BVB, even 50 per cent. The federal and state governments grant an additional discount of 5 per cent. At Borussia Dortmund, many employees have ordered the "DeutschlandTicket Job" directly.
And more will follow - Carsten Cramer is sure of that. "The majority of our employees live in Dortmund or in the region. Our head office on Rheinlanddamm, our site in Brackel and, of course, SIGNAL IDUNA PARK are very easy to reach via the main railway station and the DSW21 light rail and bus lines," says the Managing Director. "The offer to our employees emphasises that we are taking on social and ecological responsibility," Cramer continues. "We want to continue to use the appeal of Borussia Dortmund to consistently set a good example."
This is not the first collaboration between the municipal 21 Group and BVB. As a "partner for sustainable mobility", DSW21 transports around 30,000 of the 81,365 fans to and from the stadium each match - also thanks to a combined ticket valid throughout NRW - and thus makes a significant contribution to reducingCO2 emissions on home match days. The company also supports the Black & Yellows' women's handball and football teams. Together with Champion Partner DEW21, BVB is pursuing the goal of significantly and continuously reducing itsCO2 emissions.
"The "DeutschlandTicket Job" is a great success story," says DSW21 Board Member for Transport Ulrich Jaeger. "We are delighted to be able to add another chapter to it together with BVB. And of course we hope that even more companies will become aware of our attractive offer, which is also an effective tool for retaining employees."
