BVB season starts on 31 August

The anticipation is building: BVB is expecting a sold-out stadium for the first home game of the season against Union Berlin on Sunday, 31 August at 5.30 pm. DSW21 is prepared for this and will be offering its complete home match programme: Everything that has wheels will be running on the light rail system, while the buses will have the tried and tested reinforcements.

Routes to the stadium: Light rail lines U45, U42, U46

The most important light rail line in the direction of Signal Iduna Park is the U45 (Fredenbaum - Hbf - Westfalenhallen), which runs at least every five minutes between the "Hauptbahnhof" and "Stadion" stops from around three hours before the start of the match and up to 120 minutes after the end of the match. Additional trains will also run on the U42, U43 and U46 lines for arrivals and departures on the busiest sections.

At the main station, football fans will be directed to the platform via the north entrance, as in previous seasons, in order to better organise access to the light rail station. DSW21 asks all passengers, including those not travelling in the direction of the stadium, to understand this regulation, which is intended to prevent overcrowding of the platform and the associated entrance and thus a dangerous situation.

Signal Iduna Park is also easy to reach with the light rail lines U42 (Grevel - Schulte Rödding - Reinoldikirche - Theodor-Fliedner-Heim - Hombruch) and U46 (Brunnenstraße/Brügmannplatz - Reinoldikirche - Westfalenhallen). The nearest stops to Signal Iduna Park are "Theodor-Fliedner-Heim" (U42) and "Westfalenhallen" (U46).

Routes to the stadium: Uni-Shuttle, bus routes 450, 452, 448

The Uni-Shuttle will run again between the university and the "Theodor-Fliedner-Heim" stop. Bus route 450 between Kirchhörde and Westfalenhallen will be significantly reinforced with additional vehicles. There will also be two additional buses on route 452 ("Löschteich-E-Wagen") from Westfalenhallen to Schüren/Aplerbeck and an additional E-Wagen on route 448 from Barop car park in the direction of Kruckel.

Restrictions for other passengers

Due to the high demand at home matches, the trams can sometimes get a little crowded before and after the match. Due to the additional journeys towards the stadium, capacity on other lines may be slightly reduced for a short time. DSW21 asks for your understanding - on match days, everything that has wheels rolls.

CombiTickets and passenger information

BVB admission tickets are valid on match days as a combined ticket for a return journey. The ticket can be used on all surcharge-free local trains (2nd carriage class) as well as all buses and trains operated by local transport companies throughout NRW.
