Earth Day
Status: 18.04.24
22 April is Earth Day. On this day, we focus our attention particularly strongly on our planet, our environment and what we can do as a society to make a difference.
"I can't change anything on my own anyway." I'm sure many of us have heard this or similar phrases or said them ourselves. But you are not alone. Many people are changing their consumption patterns and behaviour. All of us together definitely make a difference. Even if it sometimes seems like you are alone, your own behaviour may inspire others to rethink their own.
From A to B... but how?
The way we choose to get around in our everyday lives has an impact on our environment. Do I drive my car, even if there are alternatives? Do I travel by bus and train, cycle or walk the route?
It's worth asking yourself beforehand whether a route really needs to be travelled by car or whether there are other options. It's not just good for our planet. Taking the bike or walking can also have a positive effect on our own health.

Water comes out of the tap
Saving water is nothing new for most people. Whether it's taking shorter showers, collecting rainwater or choosing plants for the garden or balcony that can withstand dry spells: There are many simple ways to reduce water consumption in everyday life.
An aerator on the tap is also a simple method of limiting the flow and can be fitted by yourself in a short space of time.
Where does Earth Day come from?
The idea originated in 1970 as a spontaneous student movement in the USA. They wanted to show that there was an environmental movement in North America and draw attention to the need to protect the environment.
Since then, 22 April has been Earth Day every year and environmental policy and social projects are highlighted worldwide on this day. The day of action helps to network, support environmental initiatives and create media presence for projects.
