If you are travelling by bike or car in Dortmund, you can easily combine your journey with local public transport. A large number of Park & Ride and Bike & Ride car parks offer you the opportunity to park your bike or car and get to your destination quickly by bus or train.
All Park & Ride and Bike & Ride car parks in the city can be displayed in the DSW21 interactive route network map using symbols in the navigation bar. P&R: Free parking - how it works
There are basically two ways for public transport passengers to use the P&R facilities free of charge
Digital or paper ticket: If you have a digitally purchased VRR ticket or a paper ticket from the 150 or so DSW21 ticket machines, you can have the parking ticket that is issued at the barrier when you enter the car park "discounted" at the pay station before you leave the P+R - i.e. have the charges set to 0 within the first 24 hours of parking. To do this, simply hold the public transport ticket up to the reader of the pay station at the same time as inserting the parking ticket. It is important to note that the paper tickets purchased via the other sales channels (external sales outlets, DSW21 customer centres and DSW21 bus drivers) will now be made usable for discounting at the ticket machines in a second step. This process should be completed in a few months.
Subscription chip card:If you have a subscription chip card, it is particularly easy: there is no need to take a parking ticket. When entering and leaving the car park, all you have to do is hold the chip card up to the barrier. The SemsterTicket and the DeutschlandTicket Schule are excluded from the promotion.
Collective parking facilities for bicycles
The city of Dortmund has set up two collective bicycle parking facilities at Mengede railway station and at the Aplerbeck underground railway terminus. As a cooperation partner, DSW21 is responsible for cleaning and, if necessary, emergency opening of the facilities.
Cyclists can book a parking space either spontaneously or on a long-term basis directly with the provider via the website www.dein-radschloss.de.
